Day 1/Biological Station/CRIRE

Today we started our journey to the Los Cruces Biological Station here in Costa Rica. We left a little after seven as planned. The drive through the city took a long time but it was nice seeing the city. The drivers are a bit crazy. The drive was long! But it was beautiful. Once we started up the mountain, it was amazing. We were surrounded by green everywhere. The drivers were still bit crazy. Do they have traffic laws here? Lol but it was a long, road with turns every little while. We stopped at Paramo or something like that and hiked it a bit. It was beautiful. Steep, but beautiful. We seen a couple horses up there, ate some berries (I’m alive, so no poison), and ventured around for a half hour or so. We got back up on the bus and ate lunch at Georgina’s? It was soooo nice there! I tried tongue for the first time and it was pretty good. I also had some drink that was made with Star fruit which was also good. Outside of the place we at lunch, were lots of beautiful flowers. I took pictures. I also got some gifts and coffee while I was there. After exploring the place for a bit, we started back on the road and drove another couple hours. It was nice. We basically drove through the clouds most of day. Or so it felt like. We were super high up in elevation. I think the highest was around 9-10,000 feet. We stopped for a bathroom break after we got out of the mountain. I think most of us fell asleep on the descent of the mountain. But as soon as we got out of the bus, it was super humid! This northerner has never experienced humidity like this before. It’s a crazy feeling. But the weather is super nice. It’s nice and warm. It took us maybe and hour or two to get to the research station from there. We arrived here at the station around 5-5:30 or so. We ate dinner at 6 which was a good meal. I went and looked at the stars after dinner, seeing if the constellations would be different. It wasn’t too much different, besides the moon being upside down. It looked like a smile. :) and now I’m chillan in bed. We gotta wake up early for breakfast at 630 tomorrow. So goodnight!
